The FBI is investigating a second fatal shooting in the Chicago area this week involving a federal agent.

In a statement issued Wednesday morning, the bureau said an agent was involved in a fatal shooting around 7 a.m. in south suburban Dixmoor “during court-authorized law enforcement activity.”

The bureau added that “one subject is deceased” and no agents were injured. Further details were not immediately available, and the bureau said the shooting is under investigation by the FBI’s Inspections Division.

On Monday evening, an agent shot and killed a man in the city’s Lower West Side neighborhood after the agency said the man fired a gun at several other people.

According to a statement released by the FBI on Tuesday, the agent was driving home in a bureau-issued vehicle when he saw a man fire at least two shots at several other people near the intersection of 18th Street and Union Avenue.

A gun was found at the scene under or near an e-bike, sources told the Tribune.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the man shot in the 1700 block of South Union Avenue as 27-year-old Oscar Isaya-Corrales. An autopsy performed Tuesday found he was shot several times and his death was ruled a homicide.

Court records indicate Isaya-Corrales was a Venezuelan national with a listed address in a nearby homeless shelter facing a pending retail theft charge.
