Omari N. Gates, 18, was fatally shot in Chicago Ridge Tuesday, according to the Chicago Ridge Police Department and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Chicago Ridge police responded at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday to the 10600 block of South Parkside Avenue, where officers found a person lying in the street with an apparent gunshot wound, police said in a statement.
Gates, identified by the medical examiner’s report, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said they are investigating with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, and encouraged anyone with information to call 708-425-7831.
