Two men have died and two others were in critical condition after four separate car crashes on the North and West sides on Saturday night and Sunday morning.

The driver remained at the scene in only one of the collisions. Two of the collisions also involved gun violence.

A man, 67, was struck and killed by a black pickup truck while walking in north Rogers Park Saturday night, according to Chicago police.

The pickup truck, which was headed eastbound, fled the scene at approximately 11:30 p.m.

The hit-and-run victim sustained severe body trauma and was transported to St. Francis Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said Major Accident Unit detectives are investigating.

Separately, another man, 33, was killed while walking in the Dunning neighborhood shortly before midnight, police said.

After entering the street from between two parked vehicles, the pedestrian was struck by a woman driving a black SUV in the 3300 block of North Harlem Avenue. He sustained head and body trauma and was treated by the Chicago Fire Department on the scene before being taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver remained on the scene and citations were issued. Major Accident Unit detectives are also investigating.

Then, early Sunday morning, police said a 21-year-old man was shot and critically injured following a car crash near the United Center, where preparation was underway for this week’s Democratic National Convention.

Just after 1 a.m. in the 500 block of North Damen Avenue, the man, who was driving a white truck, collided with a black truck.

Someone from the black truck proceeded to fire shots, striking the white truck’s driver, who sustained gunshot wounds to the head, shoulder and cheek. He was treated by Fire Department officials on scene before being transported to John H. Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

The black truck fled westbound and no one was in custody. Area 3 Detectives are investigating.

Four hours later in Lakeview Sunday morning, police found a 40-year-old man unresponsive after he struck two parked vehicles. He had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body, according to police, and was taken to Illinois Masonic in critical condition.

Area 3 Detectives are also investigating that crash and shooting, which occurred in the 3800 block of North Marshfield Avenue.
