TREASURE
Larry Fitzgerald, WR, Cardinals
Rookie FUM. running back J.J. Arrington was held to 5 yards. Third-year receiver Anquan Boldin made four measly catches. But don’t give up on Arizona’s youth movement yet. Why? Kurt Warner, that’s why. The win went to his former Giants apprentice Eli Manning, but Warner was dealing, and his favorite target was second-year man Fitzgerald, who had 13 catches with long of 30 yards.
OFF COURSE
Daunte Culpepper, QB, Vikings
Is Tampa Bay’s defense really this good? It just may be. Culpepper failed to throw a TD pass for the first time in 22 games. Yeah, yeah, Randy Moss is gone, but Culpepper still has an arsenal of receivers–led by new go-to guy Nate Burleson. Next week’s opponent, the Bengals, are no patsies, but expect a turnaround. It’ll be a matter of pride.
SHIPWRECK
David Carr, QB, Texans
Carr’s 12.1 passer rating was the second-worst of his four-year career. He had an 8.2 rating in his second career game. “That’s as helpless as I’ve felt playing quarterback since I’ve been in the 3rd grade,” Carr said. “We just couldn’t get anything going. It was embarrassing for our team, the fans and our family.” Like Carr’s 1-yard TD run, make it a short trip to get him off your roster.
