DuPage Sheriff John Zaruba said Tuesday that since November, there have been four reported instances of two men trying to coax residents out of their homes by talking about yard work or home repairs.
Zaruba said that in all of the cases–two near West Chicago, one near Warrenville and a another near Glen Ellyn–a second person appeared after an initial request to leave the home was made.
In all four instances, the residents asked the men to leave and nothing was taken, officials said.
In October, similar scams were attempted against three county residents, with cash and other items missing from two sites.
Zaruba said that any residents aware of such scams should call police or the Sheriff’s Department at 630-682-7256.
