Linda L. Eyestone OBITUARY

Linda L. Eyestone of Chicago, formerly of Oak Forest, IL, died unexpectedly from multiple complications on August 10, 2026, just shy of her 71st birthday. Born August 19, 1955, in Charleston, IL, she was the daughter of Myron and Charlotte (nee Gilpin) Eyestone. Education was a driving force in Linda’s life. After graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Political Science degree in 1977, she pursued higher education at The University of Chicago, earning an MA in Industrial Relations in 1979. She continued her studies at DePaul University, earning her JD in 1983. Linda was admitted to the State of Illinois Supreme Court and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 1983, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit in 1985. Linda practiced law and became a partner in 1990 at Scarino, Kula, Ellch & Hines in Chicago, where she worked on constitutional and civil rights, employment discrimination claims as well as other labor matters. She later entered private practice, focusing predominantly on arbitration, collective bargaining agreements, and teacher dismissal hearings before the Illinois State Board of Education and the Illinois State Labor Relations Board. Linda was an accomplished professional and served as a board member for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Outside of her professional obligations, Linda maintained a quiet, private life. She enjoyed traveling where she expanded her knowledge of different cultures and cuisines. Her keen eye, sense of style and love of color led her to discover her love of nature and photography. She also had a long-standing interest in rock, folk and classical music and attended many concerts. We express our deep gratitude and appreciation to all the caregivers, nurses, and staff at Birchwood Plaza Nursing Home, where Linda resided in her final years. A private interment will be held later this month.
