Keyholder program
Mundelein police have announced a new program for residents and property owners that will let them store pertinent information with the department.
The Keyholder program lets Mundelein residents store emergency contact information with police, allowing people to quickly get in touch during service calls, like break-ins, alarms, and other emergencies.
People can also supply pet information and bicycle info, as well as letting police know when you’re on vacation, so police can check on your property. To get started, go to the Mundelein police Facebook page and look for the Keyholder entry from Oct. 8.

Phone scam
Antioch police recently reported that they have been made aware of a phone scam where callers imitate jail personnel. The callers have been targeting relatives of people who have been recently arrested.
The callers tell the intended victims that an incarcerated friend or relative needs money for an ankle monitor or for pre-trial release. People who receive such calls should not send money or disclose personal information over the phone.
If you receive such a call, you should hang up and contact the jail directly using a verified number. If you think you have been a victim, please contact the Antioch police at (847) 395-8585.
