SALEM WITCH TRIALS PRESENTATION AT SOUTH ELGIN LIBRARY
The program “Accused: A Salem Witch Faces Her Fate” will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Gail Borden Public Library’s South Elgin branch, 127 S. McLean Blvd.
To mark the 400th anniversary of Europeans founding Salem, Massachusetts, historical presenter Michelle Gibbons will portray one of the women accused of witchcraft during the infamous Salem witch trials, according to a post to the library’s website.
In the year 1692, “fear, superstition, and mass hysteria gripped the Puritan town of Salem. Hear firsthand what it was like to live under suspicion, accused of dark, unthinkable crimes for which the only evidence was rumor, fear and prejudice,” the post says.
