A teenage boy was fatally wounded Tuesday afternoon and thrown out of a vehicle in west suburban Bellwood, officials said.
The boy was shot near the blocks of 22nd Avenue and Adams Street on Tuesday. A Wednesday autopsy later identified the boy as 16-year-old Alejandro Garcia and listed his cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head. Medical examiners also ruled the death a homicide.
Sources said at least three people are in custody for the shooting, but as of Thursday afternoon, the Bellwood police chief was unavailable for comment to confirm details related to the fatal shooting.
