An Aurora home was deemed uninhabitable after a fire Wednesday morning, Aurora Fire Department officials said.

Aurora firefighters responded around 10:34 a.m. to a fire in the 200 block of South LaSalle Street, fire officials said in a news release. Upon arrival, fire crews found a two-and-a-half story home that had been converted into two apartments with heavy fire coming from the second floor.

Firefighters deployed hose lines and began to extinguish the fire while crews searched to see if there was anyone inside the home. The fire was brought under control in 20 minutes and no one was found inside the home.

The home was deemed uninhabitable, displacing six adults and one child, according to the release. Victim Services was called to assist the residents.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, officials said.
