The Northbrook Park District’s Sports Center Pool will reopen Saturday at 10 a.m., after a rebuilding project that came in on time and just under its $5 million budget, according to officials.

The rebuilt dual pools, under construction for 10 months, include a 25-yard, six-lane lap pool, a vortex pool with zero-depth entry, two diving boards — 1-meter and 3-meter — a “water walk,” kiddie slide, drop slide and climbing wall.

The pool also includes water-conserving regenerative filtration technology and ultraviolet disinfection to supplement chlorine.

The first 100 people to arrive at the pool at 1730 Pfingsten Road before the 10 a.m. opening will get in free, district marketing director Ann Ziolkowski said. A ribbon-cutting will take place shortly afterward. A DJ will entertain between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and free food will be available then.

The pool will be open until 8 p.m., and reopen Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, lap swimming will be available from 6 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., with free swim noon to 8 p.m. In between, park district camps will have use of the pool.

The district’s Meadowhill Aquatic Center, 1501 Maple Ave., opened in late May.
