Tattoos are permanent, but museum exhibitions are not. Fortunately, exhibit extensions exist to keep the ink shop open a bit longer.

The Field Museum’s special “Tattoo” exhibition, set to close April 30, will now stay open through Sept. 4 for those interested in the history and culture of tattooing. The exhibit explores inking practices from around the world and throughout history, examining the ritual and art of tattooing past and present.

Extending the exhibit also keeps the “Tattoo Shop” in business for an extra weekend every month; for those on the tattoo waitlist, it is possible you will now score an appointment in May, June or July.

Whether you are adding to your ink collection, or starting one, or fascinated by the combination of ink, needles and skin, the temporary “Tattoo” exhibit will not fade from The Field Museum until early September.

Where: The Field Museum, 1400 S. Lake Shore Drive

Tickets: Included with the $29 Discovery Pass; www.fieldmuseum.org
