Having fun while raising funds usually equals a win-win for all. And that’s the goal the Jeffrey Pride Foundation for Pediatric Cancer Research had in mind with its “JPF Brew Review,” scheduled for Feb. 11.

From 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the Onion Pub and Brewery, 22221 North Pepper Road, Lake Barrington, the Brew Review will feature hors d’oeuvres, craft beer tasting, raffle items, a silent auction and more all for the cost of a $65 ticket.

Three local bands also will perform lively tunes. The bands include Bel-Air and the Burbs, Gen XY and The Brown Liquor Boys.

“There will be at least six different craft breweries,” said Ann Pride, the mother of Jeffrey Pride and a board member with the foundation. “It’s our first time doing this new event. We wanted something more casual and that would also attract younger adults to our cause.”

Tickets for the Brew Review can be purchased online at www.jeffreypridefoundation.org.

The Jeffrey Pride Foundation is named for the late Lakeview Subdivision neighbor, Jeffrey Pride, who passed away at the age of 7 after a two-year battle with leukemia.

It was founded by his parents, Ann and Jim, current board president Phil Fijal and secretary Jan Fijal, along with former board members Karen and Jim Powell.

Many Barrington area neighbors volunteer and serve on the board with the Prides, including treasurer Kathy Murphy, Auxiliary Board Chairman Tim Taylor, and auxiliary members Bob Beaubien, Tom Beath, Jim Daluga, Bob Hasse, Bill Jourdan, Jim Murphy, Dave Nolan, Mark O’Hara, Bob Quinn, Sue Randall, and Todd Williams.

The foundation hosts numerous dinner dances, concerts and golf outings to raise funds. In 2016, they donated nearly $400,000 to the Children’s Oncology Group, which does childhood and adolescent cancer research, according to the foundation.

If you cannot attend the Brew Review and would like to donate to the foundation, you can do so online or by mail addressed to The Jeffrey Pride Foundation, P.O. Box 1191, Barrington, Illinois 60011-1191.

Please save the date for the foundation’s 2017 Annual Golf Outing set for July 21 at Makray Memorial Golf Club in Barrington. All proceeds help the foundation work “to make cancer-free lives for children a reality.”
