The filing period for the April 4 election ended Monday with few surprises for Northbrook voters.
One of the few races that’s contested is for seats on the Glenview/Northbrook District 31 School Board, where five candidates, all from Northbrook, are vying for four seats, according to the Cook County Board of Elections. Incumbents Robert Resis, Laura Greenberg and Peter Stamatis are running, along with Jeffrey Steres, a senior director for U.S. IT Restaurant Solutions for McDonald’s Corporation and Nancy Hammervice president of the district’s Parent Teacher Club, co-leading school fundraising. The district is the only one in Northbrook without slating by a caucus.
Also contested is the Northbrook Village Board race, with incumbent Trustee Kathryn Ciesla, veteran Plan Commission member Muriel Collison and Community Relations Commission member Jason Han and firefighter/entrepreneur Scott Bush running. Village President Sandy Frum and Clerk Debbie Ford are running for re-election unopposed, as are candidates in school districts 27, 28 and 30 and the Northbrook Park District, where all three candidates are incumbents.
On the Glenbrook High School District 225 Board, only the three incumbents whose term expired filed to run, leaving that race uncontested as well.
The big draw for the election, in about a quarter of the town, may be the $36.3 million building referendum for Northbrook/Glenview School District 30, intended to rebuild Maple School.
