A Bolingbrook man with four prior drunken driving convictions was arrested after slipping out of the Orland Park police station to sneak back into his car and drive home, according to reports.

Police said they were called to the Square Celt Ale House & Grill at Orland Square Mall after a manager complained 28-year-old Michael Robinson was extremely drunk and refused to leave the restaurant. Through dispatch, police learned Robinson’s license was revoked after being convicted of four DUI incidents in Colorado, reports said. Robinson told police he had taken the bus to the Square Celt from his home in Bolingbrook, but police found Robinson’s car in he parking lot with an open beer can in the center console.

After giving him a ride to the police station, police told him he would have to arrange for a ride and could not drive his car because he was drunk and his license was revoked, reports said. A police officer later alerted others that Robinson had slipped away from the police station lobby.

Police then staked out his car using a pair of binoculars from a parking lot near the Square Celt, and watched as Robinson got inside and began driving home.

Robinson was charged with aggravated drunken driving, a felony, driving on a revoked license, illegal transportation of alcohol and no insurance following the Jan. 28 incident, police said.
