Unless you’ve been engaged in a total pop culture boycott for the past month, you’ve probably heard about Netflix’s addicting, infuriating series “Making a Murderer.” But have you considered who could be cast if the story was ever adapted for a movie? Some people have already, and the more discussion happens around the case the more likely it is the adaptation will happen at some point. But there are some roles that others haven’t cast, and ones worth re-examining.

Steven Avery
To fit the series, the movie would show him at different points in his life, separated by decades. Who could strike the balance?

Aaron Paul
He’s roughly in between the age Avery was when first arrested and how old he is now. That effectively splits the difference while challenging Paul to reach unusual levels of softness.

Brendan Dassey
This one is just obvious.

Paul Dano
The photo is from “Prisoners.” There is no one else that could be better.

Ken Kratz
He doesn’t exactly look like a movie star. But wait:

Kevin Dunn (“Veep”)
Throw a mustache and glasses on there and ask him to make his voice higher, and this works.

Teresa Halbach
Surely the movie would cast the series’ victim and touch on her story in some way. Hmm. How about:
Andrea Barber (“Fuller House”)
There’s a mild resemblance, and clearly she’s already knowledgeable about the show.

Len Kachinsky

It’s impossible to watch the show and not loathe this guy. It’s also hard not to think of:

William H. Macy
Right? This photo is from “Edmond,” but this is what he looks like.

Angenette Levy
Why does that reporter look familiar? Oh, yeah:

Lauren Cohan (“The Walking Dead,” “The Boy”)
Right?

Allan Avery
Another look-alike:

Brian Cox
As seen in “25th Hour.” Just needs glasses.

Dean Strang
I like the suggestion of Kyle Chandler. But how about:

Bronson Pinchot
That’s the most recent photo we have of him in our system. Still.
