Unless you were glued to “The Bachelor” and unable to process anything else (just admit it), you probably saw that the Coachella lineup arrived last night. Obviously the music festival in Indio, Calif., is far from a direct match to Lollapalooza, but there are always plenty of artists who overlap. Last year, for example, Florence and the Machine, Tame Impala, Alabama Shakes, The Weeknd, George Ezra and many more appeared at both.
So since the lineup for Lolla 2016 (July 28-July 31 in Grant Park) won’t be out for a while, here are a few semi-educated guesses at which Coachella acts will play at Lolla too. By “semi-educated,” I mean that they don’t have any conflicting tour dates announced at the moment, and instinct tells me it’ll happen. This isn’t everyone from Coachella that could be at Lolla, just some notable ones that jump out. If any (all) turn out to be wrong, well, that’s why they’re called guesses, not predictions.
Guns N’ Roses
Last year I thought AC/DC would play both Coachella and Lolla, but no dice in Chicago. Thinking/hoping GNR will be here.
LCD Soundsystem
The band is touring this year and would be a solid Lolla headlining option.
Sia
She doesn’t tour a lot but would be a good get for the fest (and has a new album out later this month).
Grimes
“Art Angels” is great, and Grimes has early-evening slot written all over her.
CHVRCHES
The band played Pitchfork last year—wouldn’t be surprised if that leads to Lolla this year. The gap in the group’s tour dates suggests this as well, provided the members don’t mind flying back and forth from Europe.

Halsey
Nothing’s announced between her time in Europe and headlining slot at Madison Square Garden. In 2015, Sam Smith headlined based on one album; could Halsey (who played the BMI stage at Lolla 2015) do the same in 2016?
Ellie Goulding
She hasn’t played Lolla in a few years. Often that’s enough to bring a big artist back, especially while supporting a new record.
Disclosure
Just a hunch.
Sufjan Stevens
I really don’t know if this would happen. I just hope it does.
Vince Staples
He was supposed to play Pitchfork but couldn’t due to both a delayed flight and the weather. Unless Pitchfork rebooks him, it might be Lolla’s turn.
Chris Stapleton
Lolla always has some country, and his awareness increased a lot by singing with Mr. Timberlake.
Rae Sremmurd
Thought they’d be there last year, hype-wise.
Savages
The band plays Metro in April, which shouldn’t be a scheduling problem for Lolla. Savages played Pitchfork before.
Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats
He’s gained a ton of attention in the past year and would be perfect for midday Lolla. His schedule has an opening.
Wolf Alice
The much-discussed English group definitely seems like Lolla fodder and doesn’t have another Chicago date on the schedule.
