A 65-year-old Norridge man was pronounced dead after a multi-vehicle crash in Des Plaines on Monday, according to officials.
John M. Moskal of the 4100 block of North Oketo was pronounced dead at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital on Monday at 5:50 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office and Des Plaines police.
An autopsy conducted Tuesday determined that Moskal died of multiple blunt force injuries and his death was ruled an accident.
Moskal was traveling eastbound on Rand Road near Ballard Road when the vehicle he was driving crossed over the center double lanes in a curve in the road and veered into traffic, according to Des Plaines police officials.
Moskal’s vehicle struck a pick-up truck that was traveling westbound nearly head on, police said. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured and refused medical attention, police said.
Moskal was talking at the scene but later died after being hospitalized. Bad weather may have played a factor in the crash, police said. No citations were issued.
