A 27-year-old Chicago man had to have his lip surgically repaired after he was bitten Nov. 29 by a Rottweiler at a home in the 4600 block of 152nd Street, Oak Forest police said.

The man and his girlfriend were visiting relatives over Thanksgiving weekend, and the man was playing with the dog when the dog suddenly lunged at him and bit his face, tearing off part of his lip, according to police.

They said the victim received cosmetic surgery at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and filed a police report after being released from the hospital. Police said they gave the dog’s owner a Cook County animal bite report.

The man’s girlfriend told police that the dog apparently attacked because it was trying to “protect Grandma,” the mother-in-law of the dog’s owner.

Also Nov. 29, a Tinley Park man was robbed of $600 at gunpoint in the 15700 block of Lamon Avenue, police reported.

The victim told police that he met a man he knew only as “Marcus” at a party a week earlier and arranged to buy a video game system from him at a parking lot.

When he arrived, Marcus and an accomplice approached, and the second man pulled a gun and stuck it in the victim’s rib cage, according to police, and Marcus also pointed a gun at him before the robbers took his cash.
