Valley View School District 365U has launched a new mobile device-friendly website.

It includes continually-updated content, blogs, forms, surveys, social media and district news. In addition, the site posts daily breakfast and lunch menus and links for students to learning resources.

Larry Randa, a spokesman for the district, said the old website lacked updates and other features.

“Only a few people had access to inputting information so, generally speaking, updates were few and far between,” Randa said. “Each department now has the capability of updating its information as often as necessary. It’s (the website) easier, looks better and is more transparent. Plus our old website was not mobile-friendly.”

The new website can be translated into over two dozen languages.

“Not only will this help our parents and students who may not speak English fluently, but it will also help their relatives in countries around the world who want to keep up on Valley View School District activities,” Randa said.

The site includes “hot buttons” that were popular with the former site. They allow uses to ask the superintendent a question, among other features.

The district paid Schoolwires Centricity2 about $12,000 for the new website, according to district officials. The company also provides the district with a parent notification phone system.

Schoolwires provides websites for more than 1,600 districts nationwide and has been building and hosting K-12 school websites for more than 10 years, according to company officials.
