Northwestern University officials are investigating reports of racist and anti-Semitic graffiti on campus, according to a school alert.

The graffiti was found in the University Library on the Evanston campus over the past week, according to President Morton Schapiro.

University police determined there was no immediate danger to any individual or the the campus community, according to the Tuesday alert.

While Schapiro said the graffiti did not pose a threat, “these acts are offensive to the entire Northwestern community and will not be tolerated.”

“Northwestern seeks to provide a safe and welcoming environment for students, faculty and staff of all races and religious beliefs. That is one of our guiding principles and something we work hard on every single day,” Schapiro said.

Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call university police at 847-491-3456.
