This handsome young fellow is Chango, a 6-year-old pit bull from Chicago.

His person, Evelyn Ramirez, posted photos of the dapper Chango on Dogly, a new, free photo-sharing app for dog lovers. Chango’s photos were so popular he earned a $500 grant from Dogly for Chicagoland Bully Breed Rescue.

Although he didn’t come from CBBR, Chango is technically a rescue.

“My boyfriend (Juan Quinonez) is a mechanic,” says Ramirez, who has had Chango since he was only a few months old. “The people who had him, they brought their car in to be fixed. And he noticed they had him in a crate in the car. They were taking him to the pound.”

Quinonez offered to take the dog.

Chango’s outfits started with a hoodie. Ramirez noticed that when she was out walking with him, people would cross the street to avoid them. She thought the hoodie would make Chango less intimidating-looking. Since then, his wardrobe has grown.

“I think he has about three trunks filled,” Ramirez says. “I only keep adding to them.”

She started taking photos of Chango because he seemed so OK with it.

“He’s very mellow. That’s why he takes such good pictures. We tried a professional photographer, but he kept turning away.”

Dogly was launched late last year to give pet owners a place to post photos and tell stories. Photos get “loves” — so much better than “likes” — and the most popular dogs win money for rescues.
