United Airlines last month issued a stern and blunt bulletin to its pilots expressing concerns over safety.
In the Jan. 9 bulletin, Chicago-based United reportedly called for stricter compliance with cockpit rules and procedures and cited several serious incidents caused by cockpit errors. The Wall Street Journal initially reported the story.
“As part of our commitment to safety, we constantly monitor flight operations data and regularly communicate the findings with our pilots,” United said in a statement late Wednesday.
“Our proactive approach to safety aligns with the FAA’s Safety Management System and enables us to recognize potential issues and adjust our actions to further ensure the safety of our customers and coworkers.”
A spokesman for United’s pilots union said the group had no immediate comment.
