Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Making your fingernails sparkle is as easy as swiping on some glitter polish. One or two coats add subtle shimmer, while multiple layers conjure the flamboyant flash of, say, a Liberace suit.

“Deglittering” nails, on the other hand? Strangely difficult — which explains why Google autofilled my “How to remove gl-” query with “glitter nail polish” (just after “How to remove glue” and preceding that timeless question, “How to remove glass screen protectors.”) According to the Internet, getting rid of glitter polish is a multistep process involving a combination of cotton balls, nail polish remover, hair elastics and/or elbow grease.

We recently learned of a simpler solution: Butter London’s Glitter Scrubbers. These supersaturated, textured remover wipes are a spin on the British cosmetic company’s original Scrubbers and are specially designed to remove glitter nail polish (or “nail lacquer,” as the Brits would say) and nail art. Very niche, but as Google suggests, also very needed.

The travel-friendly wipes contain aloe and vitamin E, so while removing those stubborn glitter flecks, you’re simultaneously prepping and nourishing your nails for the next round of polish. The Glitter Scrubbers run $12 for a pack of 10 individually wrapped wipes and are available from butterlondon.com, ulta.com and ULTA stores.
