As football fans get ready for Super Bowl weekend, so are Naperville police.
The department is planning increased efforts to crack down on drunken driving and seat belt violations, police officials said in a press release. It is paid for by federal traffic safety funds.

Naperville Police Sgt. Derek Zook, of the department’s traffic unit, encouraged those drinking alcohol to make plans and designate a sober driver before the party begins. Special attention also will be paid to seat belt violations, he noted.
“Drunken driving is completely preventable,” he said, in the press release. “All it takes is a little planning. We want fans to remember that it’s a choice, and the choice is simple. Drink or drive – but never do both.”
