A Palatine man has been charged again for public indecency, his fifth such offense over the last year, police said.
The 39-year-old man who lives in an apartment in the 200 block of West Johnson Street was charged Monday with three counts of public indecency, according to Palatine police.
Police say the man twice went to a gas station in the 800 block of West Palatine Road — less than a mile from his home — on Saturday and exposed his genitals to a female employee. He returned to the site again Monday morning and repeated the offense with the same victim, police said.
The woman reported the incidents and included the license plate number of the car the man was driving. He was arrested minutes after the Monday incident and was identified by the victim. The incident appears to be a random act, police said.
He was ordered held on $20,000 bond Tuesday and is expected in court next on Oct. 20, according to Palatine police.
The man has been charged with a total of five misdemeanor public indecency offenses in Palatine in recent months, said Cmdr. Michael Seebacher of the Palatine police department.
“The judge saw fit to give a higher bond than a standard misdemeanor bond. That’s likely due to the repeated incidents,” Seebacher said.
In May, the same man agreed to 40 hours of community service after he was charged in April 2014 in similar public indecency offenses. Those incidents happened in March 2014 and October 2013 at the man’s apartment building, police said.
