Fire broke out at a home on Naperville’s south side Tuesday night leaving it uninhabitable.

Firefighters were called to a home in the 1700 block of Schey Court about 8:42 p.m. and found fire in a second-floor bedroom, authorities said in a news release.

The fire was brought under control within minutes and no one was injured. Investigators determined the fire was caused by a short in an electrical outlet, according to Division Chief Kevin Lyne.

The house sustained both fire and smoke damage and will have to be repaired before the residents can return.
