The Fire sent veteran midfielder Daniel Paladini to Columbus for a selection in next month’s MLS draft and then passed in Thursday’s opening round of the re-entry draft.

Paladini, 29, had four goals and six assists in 58 regular-season contests over three seasons for the Fire. In exchange, the Fire received the Crew’s fourth-round (61st overall) pick.

They also lost one player Thursday as Philadelphia picked Fire midfielder Corben Bone in one of just six transactions. Bone has eight career goals in 18 MLS games — including seven in 2011 — but has played in just three MLS games the last two seasons.

Phase two of the re-entry draft is next Wednesday for players who were not selected this week. Seven Fire players are eligible in that phase as the team declined to pick up the 2014 options on forwards Chris Rolfe and Maicon Santos, midfielders Logan Pause and Joel Lindpere and defenders Wells Thompson, Shaun Francis, and Michael Videira.

The Fire said last week that negotiations continue and some or all could remain with the team.
