Illinois State’s second-half comeback fizzled in a 65-59 loss to Kent State in Saturday’s consolation game of the Chicago Invitational Challenge at the Sears Centre.

The Golden Flashes (3-2) led by nine at halftime, but Osiris Eldridge, Boo Richardson and Emmanuel Holloway made three-pointers to instigate a rally. Illinois State (3-2) tied the score 47-47 on Mike Vandello’s basket. Then the Redbirds’ shooting went south, squelching the counterattack.
