A.k.a. Melisa Young, Kid Sister is poised to be hip-hop’s next big thing, formally anointed by Kanye West, who featured her track “Pro-Nails” on a recent mix tape. She’s the darling of Chicago’s indie club scene with seven tracks available on iTunes and a much-anticipated forthcoming debut album. We caught up with her recently and posed a few questions about her approach to style.
Do you want to be the hippest girl in the room?
No way. I want to be the most confident.
What look do you try to achieve?
It’s deeply connected to my principles. I’m biracial and I try to achieve a balance, to be all-inclusive. I wear my Marc Jacobs dress with $10 shoes from Rainbow and I think I look super sexy.
