Set on the Riviera, adapted by John Michael Hayes from David Dodge’s forgotten best seller, it’s about a charming ex-cat burglar (Cary Grant), suspected of reopening his franchise, who dodges the gendarmerie while wooing Grace Kelly as a lovely socialite with diamonds to spare. The fireworks that playfully punctuate the Grant-Kelly lovemaking in one scene typify the whole movie: gorgeous, funny, tense, with tongue wickedly in cheek.
