“ANATOMY OF A MURDER”(star)(star)(star)(star)

5:15 p.m., TCM

Director Otto Preminger excelled at intellectual thrillers and he’s at his peak here in a story of a wily old defense attorney who argues for a volatile soldier who has killed his wife’s “assailant.” The cast is unimpeachable — Jimmy Stewart (above) as the mouthpiece, George C. Scott as his opponent, Ben Gazzara and Lee Remick as killer and wife.
