Conspiracy theorists, unite! Joel McHale, the acerbic host of E! Network’s celebrity-bashing show “The Soup,” tells us there’s an obvious reason Donald Trump keeps escalating his so-called feud with Rosie O’Donnell. It’s because the Donald’s latest installment of “The Apprentice” isn’t doing so well for NBC. “Trump thought it was going to help the ratings,” McHale told Armour & Co. when we phoned him in Los Angeles a few days ago. “Now that it hasn’t, he’s going to really have to turn it up. If her ratings are going up and his are going to go down, it will drive him nuts.” So McHale expects the furor to escalate. “If there was just some way we could get Al Qaeda interested in these stories, it would distract from their plans of terror,” McHale said. “That would handle the whole problem.”
