There was a time when Donny Osmond wanted to be known as “Donald” to show that the kid who once sang “Puppy Love” and “One Bad Apple” was all grown up. “Trump took it–I was the original Donald!” Osmond told us when we caught up with him in Utah last week.
He can laugh about it now, but he struggled to put that sugary image behind him. Now a grandfather, Osmond, who turns 50 this year, says he is embracing his past. He just OKd the DVD release of “The Best of Donny & Marie,” snippets of the variety show he did with his sister. “I did go through that period where I wanted to change the whole bit,” Osmond told Armour & Co. “That’s why you’ve never seen the `Donny & Marie Shows’ out in the marketplace, because I own those things so I just locked them up. Over time, you just kind of become comfortable with yourself, deal with it and enjoy it.”
