Enough of this “Cedric the Entertainer” jazz. Can’t we just call him by his real name since he’s becoming this big-time movie star? Can’t we just call him by his real name–Cedric Kyles?
“Only my kids can call me that–and my wife,” the comedian told Armour & Co. when we tracked him down before his appearance on David Letterman’s show a few days ago.
Well, Cedric the Entertainer happens to have two films out right now–the action comedy “Code Name: The Cleaner” and “Charlotte’s Web.” In the former, Cedric’s love interest is Lucy Liu. She really can do karate,” Cedric told us. “Her roundhouse kick is a little higher than mine. Hers goes right up to the head and mine kicks you in the upper calf area.”
In “Charlotte’s Web,” Cedric voices Golly the Goose to Oprah Winfrey’s Gussy the Goose. Unlike the rest of the cast, they recorded all their scenes together. “We played a husband and wife so we really needed to bring that back-and-forth banter that happens when we’re married,” Cedric told us.
So, how was working with O? “She’s actually really cool in person,” he said. “She’s a nice lady, very down to earth. Once you get past the 17 bodyguards, the dogs and the three chefs, she’s just regular people.”
