There are, no doubt, countless parents thanking their lucky stars for Chicago rocker Ralph Covert.
Covert, who fronts the Bad Examples, has a side project for kids called Ralph’s World. But don’t let the titles of the songs on his latest album–“Welcome to Ralph’s World”–fool you. “Fee Fi Fo Fum” or “Puppy Dog” aren’t your typical sugary pablum. It’s much closer to indie rock.
“So many times I hear the parents say, `I play the Ralph’s World in my car after I drop my kids off,'” said Covert, who has a Ralph’s World show on Dec. 3 at the Chicago Theatre–a day after his Bad Examples headline the Cubby Bear. “I know I would go crazy playing it every week if it was junk.”
