Treasure: Michael Vick
The Atlanta quarterback will always be a tricky fantasy player. When he’s not running, what do you have? A 50 percent passer with a maddening interception total. But Sunday’s four-TD outing is why he’s worth the risk. He was only 18 of 30 with two picks, but Vick was flat-out fun to watch, whether he was lettin’ it rip or running like an All-Pro halfback or getting yards after catching his own batted-down passes. “Moments like this are the main reason I’m a Mike Vick fan,” coach Jim Mora said. We agree, Coach.
Off course: Chad Johnson
Don’t make Chad beg. Get him the ball, Bengals. He came through with a key 32-yard grab Sunday. It wasn’t even for a score, but it still had him singing the praises of offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski: “Bratkowski — I love you! Thank you! That was a great call.” Pathetic. This is a TD machine stuck on one measly end-zone dance this season. Of course he’s being double-covered, to the benefit of T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who grabbed his fourth TD. Some guy named Reggie Kelly also had one. It’s Chad’s turn.
Shipwreck: Edgerrin James
The Edge is feeling edgy–the Arizona Cardinals will do that to a man. After seven seasons with the Colts, James has hit a wall of free-ranging D-linemen with his new team: 89 yards on 49 carries the last two weeks, no 100-yard games, two TDs. At this point last season he cracked the 100-yard mark five times with six rushing scores. “I wasn’t prepared for this, man, I really wasn’t,” he said. What? You didn’t know the Cards were terrible? I guess they gave you 30 million reasons to turn a blind eye.
