Treasure: LaDainian Tomlinson
The season’s not even to the halfway point yet, but the Chargers’ dynamo turned in the season’s top performance–and he didn’t even crack 100 rushing yards. He ran for four scores, leaping linemen in a single bound for TD No. 3. “It was the highest vertical leap I have ever seen,” coach Marty Schottenheimer said. And Marty didn’t spoil the party, leaving L.T. in the game until the final minutes to pad his stats (71 rushing yards, 64 receiving). Who drafted Shaun Alexander or Larry Johnson first overall? Tsk, tsk.
Off course: LaMont Jordan
OK, so the Raiders running back may not be entirely off course. He’s more like completely lost, leaving many fantasy owners shaking their heads and wondering, “LaMont Jordan, what’s up with that?” This week’s output: 60 yards on 23 carries, 16 receiving yards and a fumble. You can count on 11 more bad outings because 0-5 Oakland is brutal. But don’t blame Jordan. He demonstrated his skills in ’05 as a pass-catching bruiser, vaulting up most draft boards. But who could have imagined an NFL team so bad?
Shipwreck: LaDavid Carr
Wait a minute, who’s starting David Carr? Valid question. But here’s a fun fact I bet you didn’t know about Houston’s QB: He entered Week 6 as the NFL’s top-rated passer with a respectable 7-2 TD-to-INT ratio. So you could have done much worse if you were thinking, “Why am I wasting my time on this Roethlisberger fella?” But in Sunday’s battle with Dallas for the Governor’s Cup (who knew?), Carr had 128 yards, no TDs and two INTs. On the upside, he led the Texans in rushing yards with 15.
