Christopher Titus, who once had his own Fox sitcom, tells Armour & Co. he’s having a hard time finding takers for his latest TV project. Comedy Central decided to pass on “Special Unit,” which Titus describes as being “like `The Shield’ with handicapped people.”
Titus, who screened the pilot during a recent stop at Schaumburg’s new Improv Comedy Club (to a largely receptive audience), says the networks are afraid of the subject matter. “We use real handicapped actors and handicapped comedians,” he told us. “Does television really have the [guts] to air this? Probably not. That’s just how it is.”
