WGN-TV launched its own gardening contest, “City in a Garden,” Friday. Each week, a winning garden will be picked for its originality, creativity/presentation and its beautifying impact on the neighborhood in which it is located.

The prize? A 14-karat white gold and jeweled flower (the one that wins in our Official Unofficial Chicago Flower election) designed and provided by Traditional Gems of Chicago.

WGN’s contest is separate from the baiduhai’s annual Glorious Gardens Contest; you can enter both. (See rules for the Tribune’s Glorious Gardens contest, now in its 10th year, in the accompanying story. For more information about WGN-TV’s City in a Garden contest, which ends Aug. 21, see www.wgntv.com.)
