The Bat Cave: The Paradise Island edition.
Turns out that’s what was underneath the mysterious hatch that kept castaways — and the rest of us — so perplexed last season on “Lost.”
The hit ABC show began its second season Wednesday and finally let the survivors get a look underneath the hatch.
A bizarre new character is hiding out down there in an elaborate lair, fully equipped with machinery, buckets of paint, vials of drugs, a geodesic dome roof and a sound system blaring Mama Cass Elliot.
Stranger still, the man below is a figure from hero Jack’s past.
No real word yet on the fate of the few who escaped on a raft, including young Walt, kidnapped by pirates and back Wednesday as an apparition.
A flashback told us more about Jack, but it wasn’t one of the series’ better tales, a transparent tearjerker casting him as a reluctant miracle worker and costuming him, in a mistaken effort to shed a few years, in a toupee.
How those “Lost” survivors suffer.
