Oversize seats of form & function

Seen in the lobby of the new Hotel Indigo (formerly the Claridge Hotel) on the Gold Coast: mega-size Adirondack chairs. They’re nearly 5 feet tall and even wider. But it’s those lobster-claw arms that beguile. They’re broad enough to hold a laptop or dinner or both. The idea was to give single travelers a cozy place to eat and/or work outside their rooms. But we thought one of these big guys would work nicely on a front porch or in the back yard as a kind of alfresco getaway — with desk, dining table, chair, all in one.
