In his first Chicago-area appearance since being named Notre Dame’s football coach, Charlie Weis, a one-time prep coach, related to his audience Saturday at the Chicago Catholic League Coaches Association Football Clinic at Fenwick High School. “The jobs of a high school coach are a heck of a lot more important than the jobs of a pro coach,” he said. “Think of . . . how many lives you’re affecting.” It’s a busy weekend for Weis. Friday he attended the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis. Sunday he’ll be at the Irish basketball game against UCLA. Next week, during spring break, he will head someplace warm with his family for some needed rest and relaxation. Then, back to work. The opener is only six months away.
