player ready...Michigan coach Lloyd Carr expects great things out of Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn–which is exactly why he tried to recruit him.
“We wanted him very much to come to Michigan,” Carr said. “Quinn will be a great quarterback before he’s through.”
Not that Quinn is so unusual. Michigan and Notre Dame often go head to head for players.
“We know those guys down there like they know us. I know them because I tried to recruit almost all of them,” Carr said.
And the two schools’ similarities, Wolverines cornerback Marlin Jackson said, only add fuel to the Notre Dame-Michigan fire.
“[Notre Dame] is probably the only other place that I have been where I can feel the tradition,” Jackson said.
Michigan will be looking to duplicate the 38-0 drubbing it gave the Irish last season in Ann Arbor.
