Mergers boosted by venture capital

Merger and acquisition activity backed by venture capital rose in the second quarter, with 86 companies being acquired, according to the National Venture Capital Association.

This represents the fifth consecutive increase in activity. On deals that disclosed financial terms, the average valuation was $94 million, up from $88.6 million in the first quarter.
