In case you didn’t know: The Artisan Cellar, on the first floor of the Merchandise Mart, stocks 1,400 labels of domestic and imported wines, priced from $6 to $200. Hand-lettered descrip-tions accompany the wines, many of them from small, boutique labels.
“We’re set up to be a European-style wine shop: small, intimate surroundings and knowledgeable people,” said owner Philip Bernstein. “We really make an effort to find the most interesting wines we can find.”
For more immediate consumption, there are espresso and panini bars; artisanal cheeses ($7-$30 per pound) also are sold.
