The Naperville Plan Commission has unanimously recommended plans to demolish Our Saviour’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Naperville to make way for a new 37,500-square-foot chapel with a gymnasium, day-care center and separate garage.
The church, at 919 S. Washington St., also would include a youth center, welcoming area, outdoor center and courtyard, prayer garden, small outdoor amphitheater, and banquet facilities that would serve 490 people.
Neighbors of the church expressed concerns about noise because of weddings. The church offered to heavily landscape and put up a fence along the perimeter.
The church also is asking for approval of 179 parking spaces, slightly more than is allowed.
The proposal will go to City Council for approval.
