U.S. entrepreneurial activity grew last year, the first uptick in activity since it peaked in 2000.
More than 11.3 percent of adults engaged in some type of entrepreneurial venture in 2003, up from 10.5 percent the prior year, according to a study by Babson College and London Business School. The 2000 peak was 16.7 percent.
“The increase in entrepreneurship in the U.S. is a small but positive step that appears to mirror our recovering economy,” said Carl Schramm, president and CEO of the Kauffman Foundation, which sponsored the report.
