Romeoville’s Jeremy Johnson is a man among boys at 103 pounds, literally. Johnson is a senior in a weight class dominated by underclassmen. “It’s a big advantage,” said Johnson, ranked third in Class AA behind sophomore Jim Kennedy of Grant and freshman Cartise Lloyd of Mt. Carmel. “I’m a lot older (18) than the other guys and have a lot more experience than other guys. A lot of guys haven’t been Downstate, and I’m used to the big crowds. I definitely have the advantage.” Johnson, who was second at state his sophomore year but didn’t place last year, has a 22-1 record this season. His loss? Montini’s Pat McCaffrey, who is ranked No. 1 in Class A. McCaffrey is a freshman.
