Here are the words from three film previews shown back-to-back recently in a suburban movie house. But we know the truth: The fate of the film rests in our wallets.
“Master and Commander: On the Far Side of the World” (starring Russell Crowe; release date: June 6)
“On the far side of the world
The fate of 197 men
And the hopes of a nation
Are in the hands of one man”

“Tears of the Sun” (starring Bruce Willis; release date: March 7)
“The lives of many
Rest on the courage
Of a few”
“Seabiscuit” (starring Tobey Maguire and Jeff Bridges; release date: July 25)
“In a time of uncertainty
In a world consumed by fear
For a people whose spirit was shaken
It would take a broken hero
To get them back on their feet
The dreams of a nation
Rode on a long shot”
